FAQs on the Single-space Parking Meters, and Others
|
 |
What is the Single-space Parking Meter or the Pay and Display Ticket Machine? |
 |
The Single-space Parking Meter or the Pay and Display Ticket Machine is
a device installed as a response to demands from citizens for a brief period
of parking. On the basis of analyzing traffic volume on the streets and
resultant impact on or disruption of the traffic, we enforce these metered
spaces where drivers are allowed to park in a particular space for a limited
amount of time. However, a driver who fails to park out of the space may
be subject to receiving a violation ticket for illegal parking. Please
keep in mind that when you park, you must park within such a lined sparking
space. |

 |
Why am I allowed to park only in 60 minutes (40 or 20 minutes)? |
 |
We have set the parking time limit at 60 minutes (40 or 20 minutes) so
that we will be able to provide more drivers with an equal opportunity
to use these "time-limited parking zones." |

 |
If I expect that my parking time will exceed an hour, can I get two tickets
at a time so that I can park for two hours? Besides, is it possible to
use a parking space for me alone? |
 |
No, you can't. The parking time given for a single ticket has been fixed
to offer an equal parking service to as many drivers as possible. For the
same reason, you can't reserve the space for your own personal use.
If you are expecting to park overtime, please try to use a public parking
lot off the street.
* Remember that overtime parking will result in illegal parking.

Is the money I insert to the meter the same as a parking fee? |
 |
No, it is not.
We collect from drivers such money as "charges." They are used
for maintaining or managing the parking meters, and others.
|
 |
There are some places where I can or can't use these devices on Sunday
or holidays. Why? |
 |
If there are demands from citizens for short-time parking on the streets
on Sunday or holidays just like weekdays, we will enforce such metered
spaces on those days, too. |

Can I park a vehicle while the Single-space Parking Meter is out of service? |
 |
That depends. Some locations allow you to park, while others not. For this
reason, please check whether or not there are "No Parking" sign
plates or pavement markings nearby. For example, when you are at the place
where the "Time-limited Parking Zones" and "No Parking"
sign plates are both installed, you can't park even if the meter is out
of service. |

What is the Single-space Parking Meters Dedicated for Commercial Vehicles
and Lined Parking Spaces "for Loading/Unloading"? |
 |
It is a device for commercial vehicle drivers, or for people who have no
better places for loading/unloading of goods than streets. If you are a
driver of a regular vehicle, please use other parking meters unless otherwise
necessary. |

What am I supposed to do if I find something wrong with the meter? |
 |
If you feel there seems to be something wrong with the meter (ex., it doesn't
work normally, or doesn't show "0 minute," etc.), please try
to use other meters.
Please contact the following parking enforcement personnel if the meter
may cease to function, or is damaged, or presents any other problems.
